In Between
04:44
|
|||
I woke up to the morning sunshine
One step from the past, one thought from the line
Where everyone stands just hoping for a glimpse of time
Just floating between things lost and what we could find
Maybe it's the place we're all looking for
Short of the shame and shy of the cure
Ahead of before and behind the longing for more
One step from the fall, one wing short of the soar
Maybe it's a sign I've been missing all this time
But my anchors and glories keep dulling the shine
Or, maybe it's your warm skin pressed against mine
Sounds of the new day
And the fog of the wine
Or, maybe it's just wishful thinking
Hope for where words are still sleeping
The calm before the world starts breathing again
It slips from my mind if I thing too much
And, lord knows I'm not nearly strong enough
Handcuffed to sorrows and addicted to touch
Tomorrows before me like a hopeful crutch
I lay in this space a little longer each time
Until the noise from the edge changes my mind
Steals me away as if by design
Is me letting go part of the crime
Maybe it's a sign I've been missing all this time
But my anchors and glories keep dulling the shine
Or, maybe it's your warm skin pressed against mine
Sounds of the new day
Or the fog of the wine
Or, maybe it's just wishful thinking
Hope for where words are still sleeping
The calm before the world starts breathing again
It's only real if you believe it, then it's right there before you
It's only gone if you leave it
Then it's gone, gone, gone
Is that where all the answers come from
The quiet spaces between two storms
I've lost and I've traded from both sides now
Does knowing the difference change me somehow

Heroes To Me
03:37
|
|||
Heroes To Me
Soft lights dancing in the night
A halo moon above the light
And, I sit alone, wondering alone
Why some are so fortunate
When fortunes hard to find
And, how a heart can be so brave
When their life's on the line
I'll never know what makes it so
just complicated ponderings
But, their all heroes to me
White sheets and shadows
Nameless with numbers
And, their all alone
Silent alone
Warriors with no armor
No swords or tomorrows
Promised for their sacrifice
With wars on the sides
I'll never know what makes it so
With everything that's on the line
But, their all heroes to me
Hidden faces of angels
Quiet praises for strangers
Whose lives count for more
More then themselves
Even when the sentiment
Threatens who it's for
Cause life it shines like silver
And, it weighs more than gold
I'll never know how we can grow
When scales are used for suffering
But, I'm thankful for heroes just the same
I'm thankful for heroes just the same

Hurricane
04:03
|
|||
We’re all lost in a hurricane
Just a little bit of life and a lotta rain
Door cracked open and the devil walked in
Dressed like a razor talked like a friend
Blowing on coals in a worn-out pit
Soaking his feet for a fire he lit
Stepping on embers and buying souls
Like a suit in a tent for a revival
Plucking his strings in one-man band
Preaching to a mirror at his biggest fan
Poor mans tongues coming to your phone, tv’s, radios, mega-clones
Sky is falling, and the creek has risen, enemy’s breaking into the prison
Handing out hats for a new religion, halos, hostiles, and division
Ain’t it funny how we see what we wanna see
And lie when It won’t agree with what we know is right
Watch the city burn while singing your victory song
Too proud to admit you’re wrong just out of spite
Stacking your chips and going all in,
counting your piles on a table too thin
bought new shoes, tattooed your skin
while holding 16 to the dealer’s hand
Drinking that watered down top shelf poison
laying your money on the Trojan you’ve chosen
morning comes round and the banks are closing
calling your loans for the rows you’re sowing
Sky is falling, and the creek has risen, enemy’s breaking into the prison
Handing out hats for a new religion, halos, hostiles, and division
Ain’t it funny how we see what we wanna see
And lie when It won’t agree with what we know is right
Watch the city burn while singing your victory song
Too proud to admit you’re wrong just out of spite
Preacher’s in the pulpit wiping his sweat
Bending his book for a crooked bet
Bad is good when the shoe must fit
Blind in the pews and soft on regrets
When the smoke has cleared and the air’s too thick
Water too full of poison to drink
Livestock dying on the way to slaughter
What you gonna tell your sons and daughters
While the devils on his throne counting spoils
Looking down over all that he destroyed
Poor man’s hands are covered in soil
Gave his vote for a life of toil

Sparrow's at My Window
04:26
|
|||
Sparrow's at my window singing a song
Pecking at the glass ushering the dawn
Rays through the blinds between the space I hide
Her melody calls like a siren's song
Singing come with me, come with me
All my life I've pondered the good and the bad
One they say's a gift and the other's born of sad
But, the lesser seems the victim when the former's bailed and gone
Is there hope in salvation is there strength in a song about
Holding on, holding on
Life is so brief and there's so much to lose
Holding on to love like there's nothing else to lose
But, love never took two and it's bound to love alone
Heavy is the burden resting underneath the stone like a
Hardened heart, a hardened heart
If I could weigh the truth or a measurement of faith
Believing all the numbers from the unexplained
I'd yell it from the mountainside
I'd scream it from afar
But, truth is like an open wound that never really scares, it just
Fades away like a desert lake
There are no real answers
Nothing carved into stone
And, all we're left to ponder
Are the parts of the unknown
But, never really knowing is a beauty all it's own
Living for the moment with no stories to atone
Feels like freedom
Feels like hope
Looks like salvation
Feels like all I know

The Middle
05:34
|
|||
If I was lost would you have pity
Would you please permit me the truth
Would you take what I say with a little less gravity
Like the words of a wondering youth
If I spoke more calmly could you hear me more clearly
Would my words afford me your time
And would you feel heard if I did less talking, less Blame more pausing and denying
If I realized that we are both different
But no less important we two
If I told you that we want more of the same things
Could you somehow believe that’s true
That's somewhere between hateful words and agreeing
Then that's where we begin
Better than where we have been
If that's only for a moment that we care just a little
Then this broken down omen might somehow be the middle.
If we were both young and a little less tainted, corrupted persuaded by words
Anger and hate and sadness unspoken
From the tarnished and broken to blur
All of our hopes and truths still shining
Like a compass star through all the haze
Could we be the ones no shame set upon us
The ones not suffering chains
Then that's somewhere between
hateful words and agreeing
Then that's where we begin
Better than where we have been
If that's only for a moment
That we care just a little
Then this broken down omen might somehow be the middle
If I walk closer couild you meet me halfway
We're just two folks talking no side to betray
No all or nothing, not hate no disdain
no colors divide us no history remains
That's somewhere between
Hateful words and agreeing
Then that's where we begin
Better than where we have been
If that's only just a moment
That we care just a little
Then this broken down omen might somehow be the middle

Chaos
04:19
|
|||
Wind through the trees screaming down through the canyons
Breathing over rivers running into the sea
Warmed by an angry sun and tamed by the moon
Never resting long before leaving too soon
Drenched by the rain under a bitter sky
Swirling like two broken lovers saying goodbye
Breaking on the rocks, crashing onto the sand
Beating down the pieces scattered upon the ground
Time waits for no one
Like water through my hands
Stacking promises up for never
Knowing they won’t stand
And nothing lasts forever
But a solemn guarantee
Try as you ever will
Everything that is will never be
Stack it all up into pretty neat little piles
Forge yourself an empire stretching thousands of miles
Hoist up your sails go and shout at the thunder
Try as you might what’s above is buried under
Time waits for no one
Like water through my hands
Stacking promises up for never
Knowing they won’t stand
And nothing lasts forever
But a solemn guarantee
Try as you ever will
Everything that is will never be
There’s nothing you can tame on a rock heading nowhere
Suffering and blame waiting for the foolish mind
Chaos is the beauty that you’ll fight until you break
So hold it like a savior with every breath you take

I'm Here
04:04
|
|||
So you say, that your lost
And can't find your way back home
And you feel like nothing is going your way and you're alone
Well, every day's not a perfect day
I can understand how you feel
Cause I've been there too
Every moment seems to find a way to leave the last behind
So hold on to each one to get you through
I'm here for you now, we'll make it somehow
Yeah, nothing's too big when we're together
We're stronger than one and we've only begun
Two against the odds come whatever
Where you're sad, I'll be there so you're not alone, a shoulder for you
When you're tired, in my arms is where you be long, I'll sing you a song about
hope and faith and arms embraced
Trust in two and me and you forever
Just like we planned
Rock you fast asleep brush the hair from your cheek and watch you breathing holding my hand
I'm here for you know, we'll make it somehow
Yeah nothing's too big when we're together
We're stronger than one and we've only begun
Yeah it's two against the odds come whatever
When you're smiling and your face lights up the room, I feel it inside
When you're laughing with your eyes closed and your head falling back like you do
You don't know what you do to me
I'm so deep and hopelessly surrendered
To your every move
It's like a missing piece from a puzzle incomplete as it falls right into place fitting so perfectly
I'm here for you now, we'll make it somehow, yeah nothings too big when we're together
We're stronger than one and we only begun, Yeah it's two against the odds come whatever

Bridge To Nowhere
03:45
|
|||
Bridge to Nowhere
You and me we've come so far
Same sky, same stars
World turns, minutes burn
Some try and some learn
Some fall to their knees
Some have all the keys
But, there are no guarantees
All we really know is we come and go
From where we can only guess
Where to we just try our best
To understand what we've been told
Or imagine something bold
Cause nothing don't sound that grand
We just keep on going
Chasing a star that keeps glowing
Hoping for day, feeling our way
Looking for something real
Chemicals and memories, the power hungry and prophecies
Tell us what to believe
from stories that they conceive
And, somewhere long behind
Someone took it hook and line
And, sold it as genuine
But, nothing fits and nothing feels
Truer than what heart reveals
In a world where time can steal
Break you spirit, take your will
and, it may be just a feeling
Wrapped inside to keep us being
But, love sure feels right by me
We just keep on going
Chasing a love that's worth knowing
Simple and true, one just for you
Self-less and pure, all that and more
It's just waiting for you to see
And, no I could not tell you would not tell you lies
We've had far too much of that in our lives
When we needed more, more to fill our wanting soul
Hope for something higher than the past still holds

She Grows
03:21
|
|||
Young and bright like a new star light
With hopes of shining to make things right
But, that never happens, it rarely does
And all those dark places cast shadows because of you
And, she grows and she grows
And she becomes all that you chose
And like a mirror you see yourself
And all the doors that you closed
But she saw it to and she could not explain
Why being like you caused so much pain
She saw you hate what you could not change
And she became what you remained
And she grows, and she grow
And she pulls away, and she hits her lows
And, they're deeper than the ones you know
So you close your eyes and you let her go
The shines right over
She sees a hand where she was reaching
And, he helps her stop all the bleeding
And, she finally finds that dusty old line where hope and the past first met
And she grows, and she grows
And she's not afraid of what she knows

Souls For Sale

|

Souls for Sale
Saved by the ghost
Hands all up in the air
I'm standing on my chair
Anything to get to you
Plagued by desires
It's weighing down on me
I'm down on my lasts knee
It's haunting me everyday
I'm taking bids for the last part of my soul
A fire sale for the rest
So want you buy me a hearse
Take the last left at the church
I'm dropping hints in song and verse
Or just keep on driving till I can get there first
I'll keep my best suit on
Mirrors on the wall
They keep on talking to me
They just want let me be
And they won't throw me any rope
And, I've got friends
they just smile
They all just shake my hand
They smile at her and then
They do the talking when their gone
I'm taking bids for the last part of my soul
A fire sale for the rest
So want you buy me a hearse
Take the last left at the church
I'm dropping hints in song and verse
Or just keep on driving till I can get there first
I'll keep my best suit on
I'm just fool in fool's clothes
On a road that stays closed
With a profile picture
Of the life that I chose
With a smile worth believing
That I'm never leaving
Wearing jokes like cloaks
For all the happy folks that miss me
I'm taking bids for the last part of my soul
A fire sale for the rest
So want you buy me a hearse
Take the last left at the church
I'm dropping hints in song and verse
Or just keep on driving till I can get there first
I'll keep my best suit on
